I've worked for 22 years in the NHS with children and young people with SEND and for 4 years in a Local Authority as Head of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities learning much more about about SEN, Tribunals and how children with SEND can best be supported in education.

Specialist areas: I've worked in Hearing Impairment, Specific Language Impairment (now known as Developmental Language Disorder) and for 11 years as a specialist in Autism working both as part of a diagnostic team and also as a specialist therapist in a special school for Autism. I also worked extensively in both face to face work and in management as part of Sure Start / Children's Centres and was responsible for the development of an integrated Speech and Language Service commissioned by both Health and Education.

I predominantly work independently now and am commissioned by schools and Local Authorities to work in both a direct Speech and Language Therapist role and as an SEND consultant. I do some limited work directly for families, either as a second opinion or to provide one off assessments and reports e.g. for SEND Tribunals.
